"Five Trees"
"Surfacing"
The Horrors:
This band caught me quite off guard. They had a free single on Itunes and my first reaction was "Oh dear lord what has Itunes chosen this week?" but after just a few notes I became quite hooked. These guys are from Southend on Sea. They have a little bit of an 80s sound going on and they rock.
Songs to check out:
"Still Life"
"Moving Further Away"
Check back on this page from time to time. It will keep getting longer :)
Not only are there great bands coming from England, But Scotland as well!
Here's a list of Up and coming Scottish bands. I'll probably add to it so keep checking back!
John Wean:
This band is from Uddingston. Their music is up beat and their accents definitely have a positive effect on it. You can't help but Sympathize when they say "No it wasn't my fault.. She told me she was single." in their song "Desperate Dan (She Told Me She Was Single)". As they say on their website, "This tune could be bigger than the Loch Ness Monster" and so could they.
The Machine Room:
From Edinburgh, this band has a kind of groovy - edgy sound that they describe as "Darklushtwinklepop". Their voices are dreamy and lovely. I stumbled upon their page on BandCamp and fell in love.
Fall in love yourself,
Dead Boy Robotics:
Also From Edinburgh, this band has echo-y, dreamy voices. Their music is new wave and incredibly original. I heard their song "Ever" first and didn't know what had hit me. Dead Boy Robotics will blow you away.
