April 27th, 2012

It's been forever and for that I'm sorry. This year has been eating up all of my time and I have lots of lost music to make up for. So..

I'll start here. And away we go...

1."Kiss Them for Me"- School of Seven Bells:

This is such a cool cover. It's exotic and I always love School of Seven Bells. This song will probably end up on many of your up coming mixed tapes, I can pretty much promise that.

 2."Every Single Night"- Fiona Apple:

I am so happy Fiona is creating new music again. She is remembered in the beck era of my life and she has one of the most amazing voices I know. This song takes a little bit of a different direction than her usual stuff but I love it.

3."Corrina Corrina"- Beck:

Speaking of Beck, this is a bit of wishful posting. He just released this cover and recently a song for a movie but two Beck appearances in a month or so period is miraculous. He sounds as if he is going in a bluesy direction this time and I would love to see him come out with a whole album soon! So let's hope this is a preview.

4."Equal Mind"- Beach House:

I am loving Beach House lately! Everything they've come out recently has blown my mind. This song reminds me of "Gila". You must check this out.

5."Happy Pills"- Norah Jones:

There is almost nothing better than a collaboration of two really good artists. Especially when the product is amazing. Here is a brilliant example. Norah Jones + Danger Mouse= A musical masterpiece. I've heard snippets from the rest of the album and it's great. This is the single that's out now.

And because it's been so long..

bonus song

6."Dougou Badia (feat. Santigold)"- Amadou &Mariam:

Of course most people know Santigold and love her but this song brings out a totally different part of her talent and truly highlights the talents of Amadou & Mariam. It reminds me a little bit of Angelique Kidjo. Definitely listen to this one.

1."Rabbit Hole"- The Temper Trap:

So siked to hear more Temper Trap. Rarely do I listen to radio anymore but last night by chance I was and heard this song. I recognized Temper Trap immediately. This is definitely a good one.

2."The Only Place"- Best Coast:

I don't know about everyone else but I'm ready for summer and there isn't anything that gets me more excited for summer than summery sounding music. Here is a song that falls in that category.

3."Thieves & Kings"- The Peach Kings:

This actually is from October but I kind of just stumbled upon it today. I am in love. It's a little more rnr than the usual stuff by The Peach Kings but they kill it as always.

March 25th, 2012

Hey everyone-

I know it's been forever since I've posted anything new but I'm back.... at least until my life gets consumed again.

1. Fables- Aristotle's Paradox:

This band strays slightly from my usual music taste but I liked this song the second I heard it. Alex, the lead singer, has a voice that demands your attention and the music comes on pretty damn strong. This band is fairly new. I can see a great future for these guys.

2."Looking For a Sign"- Beck:

Beck was one of the first musicians to ever make a lasting impression on my music taste. He never ceases to amaze me. He has taken so many music directions and succeeded with each one. This song is no different. It"s a softer side of Beck. I'm very excited to hear more from him and I'm hoping this is just a taste and that there is more music in the works.

3." Next To You"- Christian Bitto:

I've posted one of Christian's songs before and thankfully he stumbled upon it and told me about this EP. This is my favorite song on it. I love the lyrics and Christian has such a dreamy, calming voice. submerge yourself in this EP. It's wonderful.

4."Picking Holes"- The Machine Room:

The Machine Room is another band that is always popping out pieces of musical master piece. This (Next to "Camino De Soda" which I've posted before) is definitely a favorite song.

5."Irene"- Beach House:

This is a song from Beach House's soon to be released album "Bloom". This is by far my favorite album yet. They worked with the French band AIR for this album and a little bit of AIR's flair is pretty present here and it definitely enhances the already unique and wonderful style of beach house.

1."Paddling Out"- Miike Snow:

I can always count on Miike Snow for my upbeat, up-tempo music needs, There's essence of the "Miike Snow" album in this song but there are some new sounds too.

2."07.45 (Bring Me Back Home)- We Are Standard:

As confused as I am about the title of this song I greatly enjoy it. It's the kind of song that I can see being in a movie someday. It reminds me of summer, which cannot come fast enough this year.

3."Shallow"- Beach Fossils:

Perfect for my "ready for spring" feeling. Beach Fossils remind me of summer. This song has that summery Beach Fossils sound.

4." Love Interruption"- Jack White:

Believe it or not, out of all the projects Jack White has had his brilliant mind in this is his first solo project. It's pretty different from everything else he's done. More acoustic and less Icky Thump. See what you think.

5."Florida"- Princeton:

Another band that makes me think of summer about a place where I am in the summer. It has a really nice little melody.

1."Simple Song"- The Shins:

I can imagine there's a new album in the mix from The Shins. This is certainly the first I've heard from them in a while. Strangely upbeat for The Shins; I'm assuming it's part of a new direction but there's still traces of the older stuff.

2."Please Be My Third Eye"- La Sera:

A little indie pop with a rock rhythm.  It's always nice to find a nice female vocalist too.
Here ya go. snag this one via Stereogum

3." Another Bed"- The Twilight Sad:

Okay so this is like the british invasion 80s type music but it isn't because it's Scottish. The Scottish accent certainly makes the already dreamy song much dreamier.

4." I'm Gonna Try (Demo)"- Shimmering Stars:

Okay this is like the beach boys on indie steroids. You can hear a total 50s style beat in this song but it has a unique and modern kind of twist. I like it. Watch out for these guys.

5."Not Too Late"- The New Assembly:

It starts of sounding like a club song and then ends up sounding more like a pop song but it still has that chill ambient sound. Also great softish male vocals.
